EMCOR Services Betlem (Betlem) completed an energy feasibility study for Robbins and Myers, Inc. - Pfaudler Reactor Systems (Pfaudler) through the New York State Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) FlexTech program. The study identified and evaluated energy conservation measures at the company’s facility in Rochester, NY.
Our team focused on creating cost effective energy savings opportunities that included consolidating and optimizing facility use for their industrial process equipment. We identified 26 energy conservation measures (ECMs) for a total annual energy savings of $336,014 and a payback of 3.42 years, not including NYSERDA or RG&E incentives.
The energy savings were 1,417,755 kWh per year and 190,416 therms. Our project managers and engineers budgeted the installation cost for the ECMs at $1,148,721 using standard estimating practices and vendor quotes.
Pfaudler wanted to improve energy efficiency and save operational costs at their Rochester facility, which consists of over 510,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space.
Pfaudler worked with Betlem to finalize the energy savings associated with a lean manufacturing initiative to consolidate floor space within the facility. As part of the plant consolidation efforts, we managed the equipment relocation efforts and building systems modifications to help ensure that the project went smoothly.
Partnering with Betlem allowed Pfaudler to understand the energy, environmental, and financial impact of their lean manufacturing efforts. The energy analysis and incentive programs helped them to build a financial model that allowed them to effectively implement these recommendations.
